Mindfulness

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is generally described as a type of meditation that cultivates the ability to be in the present moment in an accepting and non-judgmental way – Kabat-Zinn

Although mindfulness comes from secular Buddhism, anyone, regardless of their religion or beliefs, can practice it (Gira, 1989; Baer & Krietemeyer, 2006).

I use mindfulness to help people reduce stress and cope with life’s challenges. Through practice, they learn to stay present and change how they perceive and respond to situations.

What is scientifically confirmed?

Mindfulness meditation enhances focus, self-compassion, and emotional well-being, leading to improved mood, happiness (Williams & Penman, 2011), and a sense of peace (Carlson & Speca, 2010).

What to Expect in My Mindfulness Session?

The sessions focus on mindful eating practices. I will actively listen to your concerns and guide you in overcoming emotional eating while fostering a healthier, more enjoyable relationship with food.

With my background in psychology, I will also explore your personal history and help address trauma-related issues that may contribute to eating disorders.

After each session, you will receive a recorded mindful eating meditation, specifically tailored to your personal needs, to listen to and practice at your own time and pace.

Sessions are virtual (Zoom/Google Meet) and last aproximately 50 minutes.

1:1 session (Face-to-face, ZOOM or Google Meet): $85 NZD

If the fees are a concern, please feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to discuss a rate that works for you.

My research found evidence that mindfulness-based interventions support the psychological well-being of advanced cancer patients, improving quality of life, reducing symptoms, and enhancing coping
